#CWWH2018

CWWH brings together writers, producers, managers and agents. It is one of the most accessible and affordable conferences of its kind. In attendance
are producers in search of their next project, film agents ready to take on new clients and pro-screenwriters prepared to teach novelists the art
of screenwriting.

As director of Connecting Writers with Hollywood, it is my sincerest goal to provide the best of opportunities for writers in the Pacific Northwest.
I created CWWH, because it is not an option for everyone to make a trip to L.A. and get themselves in front of a producer or film agent. So, I bring
them to the Inland Northwest, where our talent is limitless.

At this conference, you will not be competing with hundreds of writers. We wish for everyone to feel like their voices are heard and provide an
atmosphere of support and access. I am very pleased to announce that this year we are introducing Connect Groups! This is a small group setting where
attendees will have an hour with our featured speakers, the topics will vary and be of valuable information.

If you need any help deciding if this is a conference for you, please read our testimonial page or feel free to email me with any questions you have.

Be sure to save the date and sign up for our newsletter in order to receive the latest conference updates.

See you in June!

Understand how to write for your true audience—the reader.  Get answers to questions:  What are the secrets of writing crisp movie dialogue?  What are 7 common dialogue errors to avoid?  What’s the real difference between show and tell, and how do you apply the “less is more” principle to your writing?  In addition, get specific tips on how to create a winning pitch for today’s marketplace.

                            What people say

Connecting Writers with Hollywood was an excellent conference. As a full time, indie published novelist, I was anxious to see what opportunities were available in Hollywood. I was pleasantly surprised by the number of professionals we had the opportunity to pitch our ideas and existing work to. The sessions were well organized, and everyone I had the pleasure of pitching to was very encouraging. The presentations given by the professionals working in the film industry were excellent. My second pitch of the conference led to a lunch meeting with Shawn West of the Wayne Agency, and an offer for representation which I happily accepted. Very few conferences deliver the opportunities that CWWH2017 did, and I strongly encourage writers at any stage of their career to attend.

I had no idea what to expect, but the conference was well run and fun. It was better than I expected. The panels were all very helpful and Shawn West’s comment on how this is the best for indie authors was very encouraging. Quite an eye-opener as films and the formats that can be expanded beyond the theater. The panel with all the presenters was excellent. I enjoyed hanging out with other writers and agents and producers in the evening.

The two keynote speakers were amazing. I keep telling people that Spokane has impressive hidden talent. I definitely plan to return next year to pitch another.

Thank you so very much for opening these doors up for writers here in the northwest. You and your supporting staff did an excellent job. The venue was marvelous. The panel of professionals were informative and gracious with their time and wisdom. Brian Bird was gracious to open up a time slot to listen to our pitch, and wants to see our completed screenplay. Also, Shawn West wants to read our treatment.

I want to thank you for your wonderful event! It was such a great experience…super-professional and yet super-relaxed. A great combo! The presenters all shared relevant and diverse content. I feel like I had so many take-aways and met so many interesting, good, people. Thank you, thank you! I look forward to next year!

Thank you and the Five Sons for making this conference informative AND productive! My pitches were all well received, I learned a lot from the breakout sessions, and made some good new friends!
                            Rich Cook – Screenwriter
I’m really excited about the new opportunities presented to me during the conference. It was so well organized and well-attended, it surpassed my expectations. Thank you for the invitation to join the fun!

JD DeWitt’s Connecting Writers with Hollywood conference was a turning point in my writing career. During an Open Mic, she offered new writers the chance to read something they’d written. I chose a short, five-minute excerpt. Someone who heard me recommended me to JD, and she reached out to me. Thanks to her ensuing recommendation, I was able to secure representation for my upcoming memoir from a rockstar literary agent, Chip MacGregor.
